Terms & privacy
The rules for booking with Playita Scuba Diving, and what we do with your details. Short version: a 30% deposit holds your place, bad weather never costs you the deposit, and your details are only used for your booking.
01Booking & payment
- Your booking is confirmed with a deposit of 30% of the total. You can pay it online with PayPal or a debit or credit card. The remaining 70% is paid on the day of the activity.
- Card payments carry a 4% processing fee on the deposit. Paying with a PayPal account has no fee. The amount is shown before you pay.
- After paying you get a booking code (for example PSD-4F2A9C). Keep it, and show it on the day.
- Prices are in US dollars (USD) unless marked RD$ (Dominican pesos). Prices for excursions are per person; private boat, catamaran and fishing trips are priced for the whole boat.
- Excursions leave from 4 people. For smaller groups the price depends on other bookings that day, so those are arranged with us on WhatsApp.
- Whale watching and apartment stays are booked directly with us on WhatsApp.
- Meeting times and places are confirmed with you before the activity. Please be on time: the boat may have to leave without latecomers.
02Cancellations
- If you cancel for personal reasons, the deposit is not refunded.
- If the sea says no: if the activity can't go ahead because of force majeure or bad weather or sea conditions, your deposit is kept as credit for a new date of your choice, subject to availability.
- The captain and the dive instructor decide whether conditions are safe. Their decision on the day is final.
- To change or cancel a booking, write to us with your booking code.
03Safety
- Diving, snorkeling, boat trips and hikes are outdoor activities with natural risks. By taking part you agree to follow the instructions of the crew and the instructor at all times.
- Tell us before the activity about any medical condition, medication, pregnancy or recent surgery. For diving you may be asked to fill in a medical questionnaire, and in some cases bring a doctor's approval.
- Fun dives are for certified divers: bring your certification card. Discovery dives are for beginners and are always led by an instructor. Scuba diving is from age 12.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult on all activities.
- We may refuse or stop an activity if someone's health, behaviour, alcohol use or the conditions put the group at risk.
- Look after your own belongings. Bring a waterproof bag for phones and cameras.

04Privacy
What we collect. When you book on this site we receive the details you type in the form: activity, date, number of people, name, email, phone or WhatsApp, preferred language and notes. When you pay, we also receive the payment amount and the email address of the PayPal account used.
Card details. Payments are processed by PayPal. Your card number is entered with PayPal and never reaches us or this website. PayPal's own privacy statement applies to the payment.
How we use it. Only to manage your booking: to confirm it, contact you about times, weather or changes, and keep a record of the payment. We don't send newsletters, and we never sell or share your details with anyone else.
Where it is kept. Bookings are stored with our hosting provider, Netlify, and only the Playita Scuba Diving team can see them. We keep them as long as we need them for the booking and our accounts.
WhatsApp. If you send a request on WhatsApp, the message goes through WhatsApp and their terms apply.
Cookies and visit counts. This site uses no cookies and no advertising or tracking services. We count visits anonymously (which page, the site you came from, phone or computer) to see how the website is used; your browser keeps a random number only while the tab is open, and remembers whether you chose the English or Spanish version. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Your rights. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your details. Write to us using the contact details below.
